Copyright 2016. Christina Loraine Art

Christina Loraine works in acrylic and mixed media her process includes smearing and smudging the paint with her fingertips and her brushstrokes tend to be fine and slightly sporadic. She also works with sandpaper to create texture and movement; scratching away the built-up layers of paint is also evocative of the idea of peeling back layers to better understand what we are seeing and experiencing in our lives. Often times our nightly dreams do just that. Much of Christina's work is inspired by the Animals she encounters in her nightly dreams.

Christina Loraine has been on the art path full-time since 2009, but has always been an Artist. Working with acrylic and mixed media she has defined her own recognizable style that is best described as gritty realism. She stays busy with commissioned paintings for pet portraits and vehicles from clients worldwide. Her work has won several awards and distinctions; most recently she had a painting published in Art Ascent magazine's Feb. 2017 issue.
Christina studied Philosophy at Western Illinois University and then lived in Atlanta for several years where she first began exhibiting her work. Now she lives an hour outside of Chicago Illinois with her husband, son, and animals. She stays active as an exhibiting artist at various galleries and festivals in the region as well as helping to organize art events. Christina also enjoys instructing art classes for both children and adults.
Always the storyteller in one medium or another, Christina's current projects include a book titled Ficus as well as a collection of illustrated science fiction poetry.
